2, 3 and 5 days per week.
We believe that Pre-K prepares children for Kindergarten by teaching them to listen, pay attention, interact with others, develop thinking skills, express themselves, improve coordination, and prepare them for reading and math. Our Pre-K rooms are divided into learning centers (family living, kitchen, reading, art, fine motor/manipulative play, blocks, and dramatic play). During the day children have both directed and free time. They participate in circle time, one-on-one teacher-guided activities and self-directed activities. They spend time in the classroom, the gym and outdoors. Monthly themes include challenging activities, hands-on experiences, multicultural and holiday celebrations and integrated learning opportunities. We believe that a child’s education is a joint effort between
the school and the home. Please inform us of any family celebrations,
special stories, hobbies or interests you would like to share with the
class. Additionally, please inform us regarding any concerns that may
arise during the school year that could affect your child’s functioning
in class so that we can appropriately address them. All issues of confidentiality
will be respected.
1. Does REACH CYA provide a free Universal Pre Kindergarten Program (UPK)?
2. If I register my child for the REACH CYA Pre-K program and I am selected for the UPK program, will REACH CYA refund my Registration and Tuition Fee?
3. Is it possible that a UPK program can be offered but that I will not be selected?
4. Can I be assured that my child will attend the REACH CYA Pre-K Program?
5. What should I do if I am only interested in applying for the free UPK program?
Changes of clothes: One complete change of clothes including underwear and socks plus on extra sweater or sweatshirt. All clothing should be marked with your child's first and last name and must be brought to class in a clear plastic bag. ***Please make sure children are dressed weather-appropriate year round as we will be going outside when weather permits. Sneakers or rubber-soled shoes are best. Snacks: REACH CYA will provide snacks and juice. **Please note: All of our classes are peanut free! Weather Policy: The REACH CYA Pre-K Program runs in conjunction with the Half Hollow Hills School District calendar. For weather related closures or delays please log onto the Half Hollow Hills School District website (www.hhh.k12.ny.us) or tune in to News 12 Long Island and local radio stations for information. In the event of a delayed opening due to inclement weather, the morning Pre-K classes will be cancelled. In the event of an early dismissal the afternoon Pre-K classes will be cancelled. Please note, if the district is closed all classes will be cancelled. Enrollment Requirements The following must be sent to REACH CYA to enroll in the Pre-K Program:
