About The Program
We believe that Pre-K prepares children for Kindergarten by teaching them to listen, pay attention, interact with others, develop thinking skills, express themselves, improve coordination, and prepare them for reading and math. Most importantly, we ant children to have fun, make new friends, and develop a love for learning at school.
Our program fosters children’s physical, social, emotional, and language development, as well as general learning processes. We provide language-rich opportunities for children to make choices and decisions, communicate, create, interact, play and discover.
Our classrooms are divided into learning centers. During the day children have both directed and free time. They participate in circle time, one-on-one teacher-guided activities and self-directed activities. Our monthly themes include challenging activities, hands-on experiences, multicultural and holiday celebrations and integrated learning opportunities that support family connections.
What is Universal Pre-Kindergarten
Universal Pre-Kindergarten is a New York State early childhood initiative that provides four-year-old students with an opportunity to attend high-quality pre-kindergarten programs that will provide the foundation to help prepare them for future school success. There is no cost to families.
The UPK Grant is awarded yearly to Half Hollow Hills School District and is contingent upon the grant’s inclusion in the NYS budget.
The school district conducts an application process. Applications are usually available around mid-January on the district’s websitewww.halfhollowhills.k12.ny.us . If the number of applicants exceeds the number of spots available, a random selection will be performed. The district will attempt to place students in their home elementary school. The program follows the school district calendar.
The UPK program is administered by the school district but is provided by REACH CYA.
Pre-K For Non UPK Students
If students are not eligible for Universal Pre-K, tuition based spots are available if space allows. However, we cannot guarantee placement in a particular school or session. REACH CYA is proud to provide a high-quality program for the community at low-cost, affordable tuition rates.
Please call for current rates.
